We had heard that this was an award winner and it really is. I am a bit of a critique when it comes to the great British chippie.I can;t praise the quality of the fish High enough,and not cooked in oil .Pure Gold is the best praise I can think of.Keep it up lads you have my seal of perfection.
The best fish and chip shop in York.
We visited Drakes Fish & Chip Restaurant in York for the second time for lunch. Once again, we were given a warm welcome by a polite and friendly young waitress and shown to a table.We both had the haddock this time and it was absolutely delicious. Once again, the fish was pure white and flaky, accompanied by chips and mushy peas. It went down well with a pot of hot refreshing tea.
We’ll be back the next time we are in York.

We have eaten twice here now and both times the food was delicious. The staff were lovely and friendly too. We chose to sit inside which you pay a little more for, but it’s worth the extra. We will be back again soon!

Enjoyed a simple fish and chip meal from here. Not a big fan of chippy food, but this was exceptional! Fresh fish, even better batter!
Succulent fish!Excellent meal, generous portions and friendly staff. Reasonably priced. The fish was fresh and the batter crispy. Tasty desserts as well.
York holiday
while on holiday in York which is very busy and lots of noisy pubs we thought we would find a nice cosy Fish and Chip shop. we liked the Drakes Fisheries because of the excellence in quality and also the light music in the background

Great food and value
Wife and I each had enormous platters of excellent quality fish and chips that included a pint of local ale. Casual atmosphere and cheerful service. Will gladly return here the next time we’re in York.
